| The sports minister in Sri Lanka has pledged to resolve the issue over non-payment of player salaries by next week. |
| Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that he expected half of the outstanding salaries to be initially paid. "There has always been a delay in of 4-5 months in paying their salaries. We admit that the players are to be paid 347 million rupees for the last seven months until September," he said. The payment will be possible as the ICC has pledged to release part of the outstanding $6.4 million owed to SLC for co-hosting the World cup together with India and Bangladesh, he said. |
