| Abeynaike a veteran journaliste stated that he was assaulted due to the comments he made regarding the former Chief Justice Sarath N.Silva. "This event is a 'lampoon' where people take pot shots at each other in good humour, it’s been so for over a century, I was talking to a lawyer and told him how I think it’s ridiculous that the same lawyers who demonised Sarath Silva when he was the Chief Justice now seem to portray him as a saviour," he said. Abeynaike was also threatened with death during the assault. |
