Russia opens service centers in Sri Lanka

Russia plans to open maintenance centers in Sri Lanka to service Soviet or Russian-made military equipment, a Rosoboronexport high-ranking official said.
Viktor Komardin, Rosoboronexport’s deputy general director, made a statement to this effect at an international arms exhibition in Malaysia.
Russia has supplied Sri Lanka with four Mi-17 helicopters, two infantry vehicles and 19 armored personnel carriers.
Last year, Sri Lanka received $300mln to purchase 14 helicopters.
